The Client

Sprout n' Wonder was created as a pop-up workshop designed to ignite children's curiosity about nature and inspire them to explore the world in their own backyards. The goal was to provide a hands-on learning experience that encouraged kids to engage with plants, soil, and ecosystems in a fun and meaningful way.

The workshop was built on the belief that curiosity leads to deeper understanding. By fostering a sense of wonder in young minds, Sprout n' Wonder aimed to cultivate a lifelong appreciation for nature, science, and sustainability.

The Challenge

The challenge was to design a visual identity that would not only attract children but also reassure parents that this was a well-organized, enriching experience led by knowledgeable educators.

Getting the attention for this event in a rural area had proved to be a tough challenge in the past. The target auiendence either lacked the inspiration or the knowledge of why it was important to learn and find the joy of gardening. It was clear that the best way to get the parents interested in bringing their kids to this event was to get the kids excited first.

The Solution

The key to making the workshop successful was getting kids genuinely excited to participate. We needed to spark their curiosity and make the event feel like an adventure, not just another lesson.

To achieve this, we developed a playful and engaging visual identity that would immediately capture their attention. The Sprout Pals—a set of friendly, wide-eyed characters—became the face of the workshop, inviting children to explore the world of gardening with wonder and enthusiasm. Bright, gender-neutral colors inspired by nature made the brand feel welcoming to all kids, while bold, easy-to-read typography ensured accessibility.

Strategically placing promotional material to help spread the word, meeting kids and parents where they already spend time. Every design choice reinforced the idea that this was more than just a workshop—it was an opportunity for hands-on discovery, growth, and fun.

The Process

The first step was to create a simple yet refined workshop logo that would give the event a sense of credibility and professionalism. The goal was to communicate that this wasn't just a casual gathering but a well-organized experience led by knowledgeable instructors. The logo helped establish trust, signaling to attendees that they would be learning from real experts in a thoughtfully curated workshop.

The concept for the Sprout n' Wonder Garden Workshop logo was rooted in the beauty of growth and discovery.

Inspired by the germination process I chose the sprout leaves to represent both the first stages of seed germination and the children themselves—young, full of potential, and ready to grow.

The lower half of the icon merges the shape of a seed as a magnifying glass, symbolizing curiosity and the joy of exploring the natural world.

Together, these elements reflect the workshop's mission: to inspire a sense of wonder, learning, and connection to nature in every young sprout.

The Color Palette

Together with the client, we explored the psychology of color to ensure the palette would be both eye-catching and inviting for all children. It was essential that the colors not only appeal to both boys and girls but also reflect the natural world, reinforcing the gardening theme.

We landed on a playful, gender-neutral palette inspired by the vibrant hues found in a garden—earthy greens, warm yellows, and lively floral tones. This thoughtful approach helped create an environment where every child feels welcome, inspired, and excited to explore.

The Sprout Pals

Engaging young kids in the gardening workshop was essential, so I designed a series of playful characters to capture their curiosity and excitement. To reach the right audience, I created posters strategically placed in parks and near schools—where the target audience naturally gathers.

These friendly illustrations were perfect for promotional materials, both digital and print. Their wide, rounded eyes mimic magnifying glasses, reinforcing the themes of discovery and hands-on learning. Every detail was made to invite kids into a world of exploration, making the workshop experience feel fun, approachable, and inclusive.
